Nottingham Building Society Introduces Automated Underwriting Technology

Nottingham Building Society has adopted auto-assisted underwriting technology to enhance decision-making and improve customer service. The society has integrated LendingMetrics’ Auto Decision Platform (ADP), a SaaS solution that automates credit reference checks, anti-money laundering (AML) processes, and affordability assessments in real-time. This technology allows the society to deliver instant decisions to mortgage introducers, freeing its underwriting team to concentrate on more complex cases. Additionally, the system will facilitate the development of new lending propositions, including tailored options for borrowers who don’t meet standard criteria.

Despite the automation, Nottingham Building Society retains complete control over its credit policies and operational changes using the ADP Editor interface. The decision to implement LendingMetrics’ platform followed a thorough tender process that included multiple workshops.

David Wylie, commercial director at LendingMetrics, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We are thrilled to have been selected by Nottingham Building Society after its detailed evaluation of various auto underwriting platforms. ADP proved to be the ideal solution. Working with the society has been a pleasure, and we look forward to helping them optimize their decision-making processes further.”

Simon Baum, chief risk officer at Nottingham Building Society, described the adoption of ADP as a “transformative step” for the organization.

“With the ADP platform, we’re improving service for brokers by providing instant responses that help them better support their clients,” Baum said. “For our customers, this means a more seamless and inclusive experience, especially for those with unique financial needs. This innovation reflects our dedication to making homeownership more accessible.”
